The people behind the pages

A little rhyme. An idea worth keeping.

01The first spark

Before there was a book, there was a bedtime rhyme about a gray dog named Gunner. A little storytelling idea that stayed with us.

The real Gunner, a gray dog with soft folded ears and a bone-shaped collar tag.

02Pull up a chair

Then it found its way to the family table.

Skylar, Carter, Noah, Tiffany (Mom), and Eddie (Dad), with Gunner at our feet. We doodled critters, tried silly voices, imagined personalities, and wondered what might happen when they met.

That’s where the little idea began to take the shape of Gray Dog Gunner.

Somewhere along the way, we realized…

The story wasn’t only the book. It was the time we spent making it.

The doodles, the giggles, the ideas passed around the table — those moments mattered in their own right. Gentle Tales grew from wanting to keep making room for them.

03Still dreaming together

A storyteller. An imagination partner.

Skylar and Eddie still dream up characters, personalities, encounters, rhymes, and stories together. Skylar notices what makes a critter a critter: how they feel, how they act, and who they might meet.

She loves creating characters and doodling them, with a clear sense of what feels right for their stories. The whole family keeps adding ideas along the way.

04Imperfect on purpose

Pencil lines welcome here.

The early drawings matter because they show the making. You don’t have to be an author or an illustrator to share an idea, invent a personality, or draw a wonderfully peculiar animal.

A good story doesn’t have to start perfectly. It just has to start together.

The next chapter can be yours

From our family to yours.

We hope these stories leave a little space for your own: time to read together, imagine together, and make something that belongs to your family.
